Tile Flooring

What?s the difference between porcelain and ceramic flooring?

Tile is often an excellent choice for your home. Be it in the bathroom, where you make it into a spa-like experience, or the kitchen, where you have a no-fuss appearance; the options are there for you to choose. No matter your decorating style, at Easton Flooring, you can find the look that matches your preferences. Our tile store is in Willow Grove, PA.

Ceramic

Ceramic tile is a coarse clay that goes through a high-temperature kiln to harden it. Most ceramic tile is standard in size. The colors are neutral, although there are more unique designs available. You can have colored grout to add a visual to them. Ceramic is porous, so it isn?t waterproofed until it is glazed. It is less dense and less hard than porcelain, so it is easier to cut. This may affect how much time is needed to install your floor.

Porcelain

Waterproof porcelain is still ceramic, but it is made of Kaolin clay. This clay is hardened in a higher temperature kiln than ceramic and stands up to heavy foot traffic. It is resistant to stains and scratches. It is more costly due to its being of a higher quality than ceramic. There are many colorful designs available. The porcelain can even be made to look like wood or stone, which expands your d?cor options.

Color body and through body

The surface and body of a porcelain tile are the same from the surface to the body. So the same pigments run through the entire tile. There is no need for a surface glaze on this tile. The through-body colors are solid.
